What is Legumechef?

The Legumechef campaign offers materials and activities about how pulses can help consumers, chefs, nutritionists and manufacturers, to emphasize the importance of legumes in a modern, healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Through its in-person and on-line “Legume Project” activities such as training courses for restaurants, institutional kitchens and educational programs, and a wide range of recipes and materials


World Pulses Day

February 10

The UN declared 2016 as the International Year of Pulses, to heighten public awareness of the nutritional benefits of pulses as part of sustainable food production aimed towards food security and nutrition to help reach the 2050 sustainability goals. Thanks to its success, February 10th was proclaimed “World Pulses Day” by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 20, 2018. Every year, Legumechef along with hundreds of other associations, companies and individuals celebrate World Pulses Day by hosting events to encourage awareness of pulses throughout the food chain.

The Legumechef campaign is sponsored by the farmers, processors and exporters of pulses (beans, lentils chickpeas and dry peas) in the United States. US farmers from New York to California produce a wide range of the highest quality pulses in the world.
